SPACEPORT PROJECT

PSP Sats designed and manufactured a roughly 3U payload for the PSP Spaceport America team competing at the Spaceport America Cup, which is the world’s largest intercollegiate rocketry competition. PSP Sats focused on designing and developing the 3U CubeSat frame essential for our partner’s, PSP Spaceport America, mission success. The team utilized CAD, CAM, CNC mills, and more from the Bechtel Innovation and Design Center to machine all components. The entire design and manufacturing process was completed in-house, from initial CAD modeling to the final assembly. PSP Sats was also responsible for integrating electronic components necessary for stress testing, acceleration, and angular velocity data collection.

ADE (LEGACY) PROJECT

ADE (LEGACY) PROJECT

The Aerodynamic Deorbit Experiment (ADE) is a 1.5U spacecraft whose payload is being developed in collaboration with PSP Sats. The mission’s primary goal is to demonstrate a deployable aeromechanical drag sail to expedite the deorbiting process of small satellites at the end of their operational life. This project, supported on orbit by Purdue University, aims to advance passive deorbit technology, contributing to safe and efficient Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) operations. ADE will test a square drag sail with a spring and motor deployment mechanism to assess its effectiveness in reducing deorbit time and providing aerodynamic stability. Through demonstrating the viability of drag sails for spacecraft, ADE is pioneering an era of spaceflight without excess orbital debris.
