Inspired by a Boilermaker

Charles D. Walker graduated from Purdue University in 1971 in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and has flown on three Space Shuttle Missions in 1984 and 1985 for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He was the first industrial payload specialist, confirmed by NASA in 1983 and has 20 days of experience in space while travelling 8.2 million miles. Walker performed early protein crystal growth experiments and participated in numerous medical evaluation as a test subject. This year, we are recognizing his achievements and contributions to the space industry, and for being a proud alumni of Purdue.
